Bolivia Summons Peruvian Ambassador

La Paz, Aug 25 (Prensa Latina) Bolivian Foreign Minister David Choquehuanca confirmed on Tuesday a meeting with Peruvian Ambassador to La Paz, Fernando Rojas, for the latter to inform about insidious remarks made by Peruvian President Alan Garcia.

Garcia said on Sunday that Bolivia and Chile maintain secret negotiations about a set of outstanding bilateral issues, including an alleged agreement on a sovereign sea outlet.

In this regard, Bolivian President Evo Morales ratified on Monday that there is a 13-point broad agenda that the Foreign ministries of the two countries have been negotiating in a transparent way.

Morales also said that his country does not sign confidential accords like the Free Trade Agreement inked by Peru with the United States and the Peruvian bilateral negotiations with the European Union.

Regarding the La Paz-Santiago talks, Morales said that as soon as there are concrete results, the world public opinion will be informed.

The Bolivia-Chile talks were opened in 2006 by Morales and Chilean President Michelle Bachelet, including for the first time the Bolivian aspirations for access to the sea, lost in 1879 in the wake of the war with Chile.
