Young Bolivians March vs. Drugs

La Paz, Sep 27 (Prensa Latina) More than 10 thousand youths will march Sunday in this city and in El Alto against drug-consumption, production and trafficking in Bolivia.

According to Colonel Oscar Nina, chief of the Special Force to Fight Drug Trafficking (SFFDT), the initiative is to raise public awareness regarding the fight against this scourge.

The march named “Para Vivir Bien” (To Live Well) will conclude with a popular party in Julio Borelli closed coliseum, he said.

In this concert will perform remarkable musical groups as Mayampi, Banda 10, Electroshock, Los Angeles, Quirquiña and Wayna Wila.

Deputy of Social Defense, Felipe Caceres explained that the protest will also be useful to alert parents that drug-traffickers are using children, adolescents and students deceitfully for their illicit activities.

In that way, he condemned the sale of narcotics in educational centers, squares and places, where young people gather, in various high density demographic zones in La Paz and El Alto.

Nina underlined this demonstration will replicate throughout the South American country, to keep drugs from affecting the student population.

He recently said that some changes in Bolivian laws to stop micro drug- trafficking in cities are needed.
