Bolivia Opposition Manipulation Denounced

La Paz, Oct 8 (Prensa Latina) Bolivian Vice President Alvaro Garcia has accused the opposition of using different social sectors to make a counter-drive to create conflict during the electoral campaign for the December general elections.

Garcia mentioned two concrete incidents: the protest by those differently abled and the road blockage by farmers and ranchers in Yacuiba town in Tarija, Cambio daily informed.

Both incidents clearly corroborated that “there is manipulation with political goals,” he asserted.

The vice president noted the Executive has the responsibility of coping with legal popular petitions, but the opposition “is pushing some groups to make up demands to generate conflict and tension in the country.”

Regarding that, he affirmed the Plan Progreso para Bolivia-National Convergencia (PPB-CN) faction is encouraging the protests of differently abled people, as its leader Jaime Estivariz is the candidate for that party.

“He is a candidate making political campaign through mistreatment and sacrifice of noble people,” Garcia regretted.

That situation was confirmed on Wednesday by President of La Paz’ Federation of the Differently Abled Teclo Gonzales, who said Estivariz used the collected signatures to ask for a governmental bond of nearly $430 to run as PPB-CN candidate.
