Bolivia president says he’s disappointed in Obama

Bolivia’s first indigenous president says he’s disappointed with President Barack Obama and his policies.

Obama’s victory as the first African-American U.S. president initially inspired many on Latin America’s left. But Bolivia’s Evo Morales says that “if something changed, it’s only the color and there was no change at all in the ideological or program content in the United States.”

Morales is a close ally of Cuba’s Castro brothers and Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez. All of them have complained that Obama has failed to lift the U.S. embargo of Cuba and say he didn’t do enough to reverse a coup that ousted Honduras’ leftist leader.

Morales is the first president from his country’s Indian majority. He spoke on Tuesday.
