LA PAZ, Dec 20 (NNN-Prensa Latina) — Bolivian Minister of Autonomy Carlos Romero presented on Saturday a preliminary government agreement to change the current Law on the Temporary Electoral Regime with the purpose of guaranteeing regional elections set for April 2010.
According to Romero, the document was given to civil governors of the nine departments, gathered since Friday at the vice presidency headquarters to change the law.
The official document suggests to respect the Electoral Law and, in case of legal loopholes, to fill them with a complementary regulation.
According to the suggestion, the regulation should include the elections of governors (prefects) and deputy governors.
Likewise, the agreement urges to comply with what the Law establishes regarding the second electoral round in the department of Santa Cruz, no more than 30 days after the regional elections.
The document includes also the election of departmental assembly members. —
