Bolivian Peasant Women in the Change Process

La Paz, Jan 5 (Prensa Latina) Executive secretary of the National Confederation of Bolivian Peasant Women Leonilda Zurita highlighted on Tuesday women”s participation in the current political stage and the absolute recognition of this social sector in the Constitution.

  We were always excluded of the constitutions; we were never be taken into consideration, but now we are part of the supreme law approved January 25th 2009 and sanctioned on February 7th, said Zurita.

Current achievements are the result of President Evo Morales’ administration together with the Movement for Socialism (MAS).

Zurita said there was a big progress in the political field due to the level of power and political leadership achieved by women.

Likewise, women are notable for their access to land, to the State administration and other achievements.
