Sucre, Bolivia, Jan 19 (Prensa Latina) The Court of Sentences of Bolivian Supreme Court of Justice, CSJ issued a warrant for the arrest of former presidential candidate of the opposition Manfred Reyes Villa, fugitive in the US.

The order came after the judicial evasion of Reyes Villa, who should have appeared in court for the massacre held in October 2003, when the government of Gonzalo Sanchez de Lozada ordered to break up a demonstration that left 68 deaths and more than 400 people injured.

By mid December, ex-prefect of Cochabamba fled to US via Peru in disguise, after participating during recent general elections.

“After having carried out the necessary investigations, the Court in charge of this case issues according to article 198 of the Criminal Proceedings Code a Warrant Order for the arrest of Reyes Villa, said the president of the Court of Sentence of Bolivian CSJ Angel Irusta.

According to the judge, the District Attorney´s Office is now in charge of fulfilling the warrant order, an important step in his opinion in order to proceed to ex-prefect extradition from US in a near future.
