Rains Affect Thousands of Bolivians

La Paz, Feb 2 (Prensa Latina) The number of Bolivian families affected by intense rains, related to El Niño climatologic phenomenon, has climbed to 26,452, the Civil Defense confirmed on Tuesday.

  As a result of bad weather conditions, 12 people have died, and 80 of the 327 municipalities have reported damage.

The government decreed national emergency last week and assigned resources to those affected and agricultural recovery.

Cochabamba and Santa Cruz, followed by Chuquisaca, La Paz, Beni, Tarija, Oruro, and Potosi have been the most pounded regions by intense rains, floods, and landslides.

On Monday, Defense Minister Ruben Saavedra and Deputy Civil Defense Minister Hernan Tuco delivered ten tons of food, tents, and provisions to affected families in Trinidad, capital of Beni.
