Panama, Feb 10 (Prensa Latina) Bolivia has presented to Panama proposals to be discussed at the World Conference of the Peoples on Climate Change, scheduled for April 19 to 22 in Cochabamba.

Bolivian Ambassador to Panama Edgar Solis told the press that this is the first time that Central American countries are called to attend such an important meeting.

Regarding the importance of the forum he recalled that the poorest “pay the consequences” of the actions of the rich on the environment because “we are the most vulnerable.”

Solis also referred to the recent failure of the Copenhagen Summit where “four countries tried to impose” their will on 192 nations.

He added that Bolivia expects 10,000 foreign guests representing governments, international organizations and NGOs for the Cochabamba meet.

Among the subjects to be debated, he pointed out, are those related to the climate debt, reduction of gas emissions, protection of forests and indigenous peoples.

Also, Solis said, the gathering opens the possibility to designing a plan of action aimed at advancing the project of creating a Climate Court of Justice.
