Bolivia and Argentina to agree on pipeline

Bolivia and Argentina are set to sign an agreement to build a new pipeline between the two countries, in order to increase Bolivia’s natural gas exports to Argentina to 27 MMcm/a by 2017.

After meeting with Argentine Planning Minister Julio de Vido, Bolivian Vice President Alvaro Garcia Linera announced that the two countries were expected to sign the agreement by the end of March, according to Reuters.

Approximately 20 km of the 36 inch diameter pipeline will be constructed in Bolivia, and 40 km in Argentina.

The pipeline will replace an existing pipeline, which currently has a capacity of 5 MMcm/d.

Bolivian President Evo Morales and Argentinean President Cristina Fernandez are expected to sign the agreement at the end of March.
