Bolivian Government Manufactures 50 Tractors

On March 23, the Armed Forces National Development Corporation or COFADENA symbolically delivered President Evo Morales 50 Bolivian-made tractors  as they had done in 2009.  COFADENA has a factory in Santibáñez which lies about 20 km from Cochabamba. COFADENA manager Ronald Cuba announced that the green Bolivian-made tractors were 120 horse power and had a variety of features like dual traction and mutli-directional capabilities. COFADENA was established in the 1970s  to implement strategic development projects throughout the country but was largely de-activated by Supreme Decree 21060 which cut down on state owned businesses such as the National Explosives Factory, Munitions Factory, The Basic Chemical Company of Bolivia, and the recently re-activated The Bolivian Automobile Company. The cost of the tractors was not available.
