La Paz, Mar 26 (Prensa Latina) With new natural gas sending to Argentina, energy supply to Brazil, and projected exports towards Uruguay and Paraguay, Bolivia becomes South America”s energy center.

Today, the directors of ENARSA, Exequiel Espinosa, and YPPFB, Carlos Villegas, will sign the agreement that will gradually increase gas supply to Buenos Aires from five to 27.7 million cubic meters daily until 2017.

The document will be inked in Sucre city, in the presence of Presidents Evo Morales, Bolivia, and Cristina Fernandez, Argentina, who is on an official visit.

To accomplish these commitments, the Bolivian government asked Spain’s Repsol to immediately begin investments for prospecting works in Margarita field (Tarija).

Increasing gas production will be one of the measures to fulfill the new pledges with Argentina.

Another task will be laying the Juana Azurduy de Padilla gas pipeline until the Argentine border, with a 40 million investment.

This work is the main expansion project agreed by the executive to increase Bolivian gas supply to the Argentine market, and is even considered as the means to export gas to Uruguay first and Paraguay later.

According to the Hydrocarbon Ministry’s Department for Energy Planning and Integration, gas demands on the Paraguayan and Uruguayan markets would reach three million cubic meters daily.
