Peru, Bolivia to Reinforce Border Security

La Paz, Mar 26 (Prensa Latina) Peru and Bolivia will jointly intensify control in their borders to prevent smuggling, according to Chief of Bolivia”s National Customs (ANB) Marlene Ardaya.

She said that both countries will soon launch concrete, coordinated actions in border areas, mainly to control the smuggling of liquefied petroleum gas.

We still have to address some customs inadequacy issues and agree on free routes to carry out operations, but we have agreed to meet to establish some control mechanisms, explained Ardaya.

She added that Peruvian authorities admitted the impossibility of guarding adequately the Desaguadero (La Paz); therefore, the parties considered the possibility to create a Binational Customs.
