Sucre, Bolivia, Mar 27 (Prensa Latina) Bolivian President Evo Morales called the members of the Plurinational Legislative Assembly to rule without any foreign political impositions or plans, as a tribute to the struggles of their predecessors.

During the first solemn session of the Assembly, attended by Argentine President Cristina Fernandez, Morales said patriots Tupac Katari, Bartolina Sisa and Juana Azurduy de Padilla did not shed their blood in vain.

He noted that their struggle continues, but under different circumstances.

In 2009, the Executive set the strategy to distribute economic assistance (a bond) to pregnant women and their children under two years of age, as a tribute to Juana Azurduy de Padilla, the heroine whose remains rest in Sucre’s Freedom House, where the Legislative Assembly held its session.

During the ceremony, the Argentine president gave Morales the saber of Juana Azurduy de Padilla, who was promoted to general by Buenos Aires in 2009.

Morales noted that the new weapon in the hands of the people is their vote in the polls to carry out important changes.
