Theater Festival Ends Successfully in Bolivia

La Paz, Mar 28 (Prensa Latina) The 7th International Peace Festival (FITAZ-2010) concluded in this city on Sunday with performances by contemporary, classic and exotic companies from 12 countries.

  According to actress Maritza Wilde, director of the event, the FITAZ-2010 marked the intercultural encounter with the public who shared different styles, schools and genres with the casts.

She said the event held in La Paz was honored with the presence of groups from Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Spain, Ecuador, Holland, Italy, Mexico and Switzerland, in addition to the participation of 22 Bolivians groups.

It also included workshops, lectures, and debates offered by well-known actors, she said.

According to Cambio newspaper, on Saturday FITAZ paid tribute to the work of renowned director Peter Brook, one of the most dazzling and influential in contemporary theatre worldwide.

Organizers of the forum noted that Bolivian groups were chosen for their quality and staging.

They included Teatro Trono from El Alto City, with more than 30 years of work.

They emphasized that about 10 local groups premiered children’s plays, including Teatro del Purgatorio (Theater of Purgatory), with actor Raul Beltran premiering “El pincel mágico” (The magic brush).
