Bolivia Strengthens Borders With Neighboring Countries

La Paz, Jun 14 (Prensa Latina) Bolivian police authorities confirmed the decision of the Executive to strengthen the borders with Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Chile and Perú to prevent human traffic.

  According to the officer in charge of the Special Force of Struggle against Crime (FELCC), Colonel Adolfo Cáceres, there are frequent charges about traffic of persons by national and criminal groups.

Cáceres explained that as a rule they are persons in search of work who are deceived and later end up in a form of slavery and inhe case of women they are forced into prostitution.

Investigations revealed that when these persons arrive in other countries they are deprived of their identification documents and remain in the hands of delinquents, he pointed out.

He added that the majority of these victims are adolescents and children.

The police official also explained that control will be stronger in localities of Desaguadero (Perú), Puerto Suárez (Brazil), Copacabana (Perú), Villazón (Argentina) and Tarija (Argentina).
