Bolivian Deputies Approve Electoral Regime Bill

La Paz, Jun 27 (Prensa Latina) The Chamber of Deputies of Boliviaâ�Ös Legislative Assembly approved on Sunday the bill on the electoral regime to be be checked and approved by the Senate later.

  Saturday morning the full session of the Chamber took up again the discussion and finished it in the morning when including two temporary articles by request of the indigenous deputies.

One of the articles put back the demand of more seats up to the end of the 2011 census while the other article pointed out that the previous consultation process with social organizations should be regulated.

The deputies asked for increasing to 18 the number of seats and for including the article on consultation.

Now, the bill has 266 articles, 7 temporary regulations and 3 final regulations.

The electoral law should be the third of five organic laws to be promulgated. The deadline for the approval of the Constitutional Court Law and the Framework Law of Autonomies is July 22.
