Bolivia Celebrates World Day of Tourism

La Paz, Sept 24 (Prensa Latina) Bolivia will celebrate World Tourism Day on Monday with a number of activities throughout its nine departments.

  Culture Minister Zulma Yugar told reporters that the idea is to promote attractions in all regions in homage of this celebration, with the slogan “Tourism and Biological Diversity.”

The events will promote a remodeling of the Cretaceous Park of Sucre (Chuquisaca) and the Carnaval of Oruro, declared a UNESCO Oral and Oral World Heritage.

The minister also announced a series of lectures on tourism and biological diversity in the cities of Sucre, La Paz and Santa Cruz.

In addition, tourism experts will meet in La Paz next week to highlight the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political and economic values.

On September 28, at least 50 diplomatic delegations will observe the launching of the Carnival of the Bicentennial of Oruro, 2011.

According to the National Institute of Statistics, the flow of tourism during the first half of 2010 grew by 22 percent compared to the same period last year when the so-called smokeless industry generated income of $336 million.
